Role Overview:
The Technical Manager will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of the high-end refurbishment project, ensuring that complex design and construction challenges are met with innovative solutions. This role involves coordinating technical designs, ensuring compliance with stringent regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in refurbishment projects and a deep understanding of working with historic or listed buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Design Coordination: Oversee and coordinate all technical design aspects, ensuring that architectural and engineering solutions respect the original character of the building while meeting modern standards. Collaborate with designers, structural engineers, and conservation specialists to address the unique challenges of refurbishment projects.
- Regulatory Compliance & Planning: Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with building regulations, conservation requirements, and planning consents. Liaise with planning authorities and heritage consultants to secure necessary approvals and address any regulatory issues that arise.
- Project Management Support: Provide technical guidance to the project management team, supporting the development of construction methodologies that are sensitive to the building’s fabric and historical significance. Ensure technical considerations are integrated into the project schedule and resource planning.
- Problem Solving & Technical Challenges: Identify potential technical risks associated with the refurbishment process, including structural integrity, material compatibility, and conservation constraints. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to resolve these challenges while preserving the building’s heritage.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main technical liaison for all project stakeholders, including clients, architects, and conservation officers. Communicate complex technical issues and solutions clearly, ensuring all parties are informed and aligned with the project’s goals and constraints.
