Our client is a well-established residential developer with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality housing developments across Hertfordshire and the surrounding region. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their successful team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong construction professional to take ownership of multiple residential developments from land acquisition through to project completion.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Technical Manager will be responsible for managing all technical aspects of residential developments, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the technical delivery of residential developments from planning through to completion.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, utility providers, and local authorities.
• Review and manage technical drawings, specifications, and design information.
• Ensure developments comply with planning conditions, Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, and all relevant legislation.
• Manage and secure technical approvals and statutory agreements.
• Monitor design progress against programme requirements.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development process.
• Provide technical support to construction, commercial, sales, and land teams.
• Attend site meetings and oversee the resolution of technical and design issues.
• Manage consultant appointments, performance, and budgets.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Senior Technical Coordinator, or Technical Coordinator role within the residential development sector.
• Strong understanding of housebuilding design and construction processes.
• Knowledge of NHBC standards, Building Regulations, and planning procedures.
• Experience managing external consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Excellent project management and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Relevant construction, engineering, architecture, or surveying qualification is desirable.
