Materials Buyer – Residential Developer – Up to £50,000 + Bonus + Benefits

 

One of the UK’s leading residential developers is looking to enhance their Commercial team by bringing in a Buyer for their Kent region

The business has offices and developments across the UK, and have won awards ranging from resident satisfaction to quality of work.

 

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for procuring building materials from National Suppliers and Builders Merchants, and producing materials schedules for build materials to arrive on site.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Preparing tendering packs and material enquiries with a view to assessing the best quotations and choosing the one most suitable for the build.
  • Producing an effective and realistic budget along with material cost schedules to ensure that your build is both cost effective and runs on time.
  • To be proactive and see issues that may arise in the build with regards to late delivery of materials and running over costs to rectify them as fast as possible.
  • Projecting and reporting on material cost increases as they arise, as an effective way of ensuring budgets are not exceeded.
  • Resolving invoice queries with the Accounts Department.
  • You will occasionally be asked to carry out on site checks of build materials, and produce reports on your findings.

Candidates should be current Buying or Procurement specialists, with experience of working within a large developer preferred but not mandatory. Candidates from outside the construction industry, but with experience of working within similarly large entities are also invited to apply. Experience with COINS will greatly help your application.

The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communications skills. Additionally, candidates should be well organised, skilled in planning for both themselves and others, and have strong attention to detail and independent drive across all aspects of their work.

 

The candidate should be a strong team player, and an assertive individual. They should be capable of influencing others and building strong relationships and networks – both internally and externally.
