The role

My client, a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced MEP Lead to establish and develop a team of Building Services Engineers within their Birmingham Office. Working closely with the established structural team the MEP lead will be responsible for all aspects of team management and development, financial performance and business development.

The established market in Birmingham dictates that the projects will be across a variety of sectors including Higher Education, Science Laboratories, Health, Residential, Leisure and Offices.

Core Responsibilities

  • To establish, develop and lead a new team of Building Services Engineers
  • Promote and market Building Services in Birmingham, the UK and internationally
  • Develop the companies multi-discipline capability in the local market
  • To be responsible for the financial performance of the services team
  • Liaise and interact with other UK services teams to optimise workload and capacity

Required qualifications, skills and knowledge

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
  • Proven track record in managing all aspects of project delivery in conjunction with Project Director
  • Strong client facing skills, experienced of presenting to clients, preparing and negotiating proposals, and procuring project resources
  • Appreciation of the importance of business development and demonstration of aptitude to undertake this role
  • Ability to win business and be ambassador for company
  • Be comfortable in communicating our Business Plan, mission statement and key challenges
  • Clear English oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and lead multidisciplinary professional teams
  • High degree of technical competence with demonstrable appreciation of sustainable design
  • Demonstration of aptitude for team leadership and ambition for senior leadership career progression.

The successful engineer will part of a dynamic, expanding organisation in a rapidly growing sector within the UK.
